How it countsYour iPhone counts the reps
Hold the phone flat at belly-button height, screen facing you, and do your calf raises. The motion sensors inside your iPhone follow you as you rise and lower, and the count goes up on the screen as you go. All it needs is the iPhone in your hand.
Counting runs on the phone itself. The motion readings stay on your iPhone.
-
3, 2, 1
Tap Start set. A three-second countdown gives you time to hold the phone flat and put a hand on the wall while the sensors warm up.
-
Reps count live
The phone counts your reps as you rise and lower. The count fills the screen, with your highest at this weight under it. Pass it and the count turns orange, with one buzz.
-
Finish set saves it
Go until another full rep isn't possible, then tap Finish set. The set is saved at once, a new record shows as one, and the app goes back to Today by itself.
Calf work for the hours outside the gym
Short sets through the day add up to real weekly volume on top of what you do at the gym. A typical weekday:
A reminder: “Time for a set.” Tap it and Track set opens on your last weight.
Another set between calls. Some days with a 10 kg backpack.
Hands are on the machine, so you log the set by hand: machine, reps, weight. It opens on last time's values, so a new gym set is three taps.
Open Progress and look at the weeks.
Reminders are optional: pick a time window and 3, 5 or 8 a day.
Records update by themselves
A record is the most reps in one set at one weight. CalfBoss keeps one for every extra weight and every gym machine, so each weight has its own record.

Progress shows both ways forward, more reps at the same weight or a first set at a heavier one, with your highest set week by week.
It records. You decide.
CalfBoss keeps your sets and shows them back as they happened. How many sets you do, and when, is your call.

Questions
Where can I do a set?
Anywhere with a wall: at home, at work, between calls. A step edge gives a deeper stretch, and a backpack adds weight when you want more.
Where do I hold the phone?
Flat at belly-button height, screen facing you, with your other hand on a wall for balance. The counter is tuned for that position.
Can I change a set afterwards?
Yes. Tap the set on Today to change its reps, weight or time, or swipe it to repeat or delete it.
Can I log one-leg sets?
Yes, by hand: Log by hand has a One leg exercise, with reps per leg. The phone counts standing calf raises.
How does the subscription work?
Yearly or weekly subscription; the price shows in the app before you pay. Cancel any time in iPhone Settings.
How hard should a set be?
Go until another full rep isn't possible. A burning muscle is normal. Pain in your heel or Achilles means stop and rest.
What do I need?
An iPhone and a wall to touch for balance. A backpack or a dumbbell is optional, for extra weight.
What happens to my sets if I change phones?
Your sets are part of your normal encrypted iPhone backup, so they move with it. You can also export every set as a CSV file from Settings.
Can you hit 25?
